CURRENT VOLUNTEER ROLES

How would you like to give people in in undeveloped nations clean drinking water for life while fulfilling academic or community service requirements? Join our volunteer team and make a life-long difference! All of our volunteer roles offer real responsibility in the nonprofit world. Your efforts have immediate and real impact. Please consider one of the roles below:

Digital Content Fellow (volunteer):

OCS is looking for a social media and digital content intern to help support our efforts. Working with our marketing team, this person will develop, create, publish, and moderate new content for the OCS website and social media channels. They will help us pursue opportunities to update, improve, and build off existing content to improve SEO and social media results. They will also assist in website and social media analytics, performance metrics, and tagging practices.

We’re looking for a strong writer with an eye for inventive storytelling, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of social media, content creation, and analytics.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in/understanding of social media marketing

  • Understanding of social listening and publishing tools

  • A self-starter with natural curiosity and the ability to execute with thought and attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Excel) and major social media channels

  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to interact effectively at all levels and collaboratively in team environments across multiple functions

Development Fellow (volunteer):

The development team works to generate support for the mission of OCS. Our Development Fellow will be given exposure to a wide range of opportunities in fundraising including research and brief writing on prospective funders (including individuals, governments, and foundations), identifying new funding opportunities, creation of development materials to be used in donor meetings, and cultivation and solicitation of gifts.

We’d prefer to find someone in the Detroit, Michigan area but are open to other locations.

Qualifications: 

  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and verbal skills and superior research skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and professionally in a multi-faceted organization. 

  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, commitment to data accuracy, and follow-through. 

  • Self-motivated and able to “own” projects from start to finish.
