Orlando Bustos

OHorizons was founded out of the belief that some of the world’s toughest problems need simple solutions, a conclusion that Mr. Bustos landed on while working on his thesis at MIT, “We All Matter: Changing the Way We Fight Hunger.” While studying the cycle of hunger, he developed a system for ending it by introducing solutions that address key human needs: access to clean drinking water, clean, renewable, affordable energy, improved agricultural practices, and economic development opportunities. These “four horizons of life” are the cornerstones upon which the OHorizons Foundation was launched.
Mr. Bustos is also the Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of OHorizons Global, an international private investment and management consulting firm that works on multi-billion-dollar projects for investment firms and strategic conglomerates who focus on the automotive and industrial sectors.
Mr. Bustos has over 25 years of executive experience in the automotive, industrial and telecommunications industries, managing global operations, executing complex restructurings, and forging new business development in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, with emphasis in emerging markets and China.
By age 30 he founded and led the General Motors Advanced Purchasing organization, which grew to oversee up to $50 billion in annual purchase value.
Mr. Bustos is currently on the Board of the Michigan Science Center, an organization that serves hundreds of thousands of children, serving as an officer and on its executive committee. Previously, he has been on the Board of Directors of Axalta Coating Systems, and served on its compensation committee, the Board of Directors of Cooper-Standard, and served on its compensation committee, the boards of GMI Diesel Engineering in Japan, Isuzu Motors Polska in Poland, and DMAX in the U.S.
He earned his MBA as a Sloan Fellow from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
