Much of the developing world grapples with lack of access to water that is safe for human consumption, an essential first step in leading a healthy and productive life.

That is why our initial focus at OHorizons has been around development of low-tech solutions that empowers communities to solve this issue.

Our goal is to provide safe and sustainable drinking water to over one million people worldwide by the end of 2023!

The most sustainable strategy for improving rural drinking water quality is to provide solutions for treating and safely storing water at the household level. We developed the award winning Wood Mold™ as a low-tech, open-source tool that lets anyone, anywhere bring clean water to their community.

In addition to our open-source technical resources and support on our website, we've financially supported and run in-person Wood Mold projects with partner organizations in Bangladesh, Ecuador, Kenya, and Mali. We are always looking to create new partnerships and expand our impact.

After years of testing and refining both our product and our processes, we are scaling our impact.

Since April 2015, 1000+ organizations and people from 80+ different countries have downloaded our Wood Mold construction manual!

We utilize two models for engagement on our Wood Mold projects at OHorizons:

OPEN-SOURCE: These are filtration projects that can be started by anyone. All of the technical resources for our Wood Mold are open-source and freely available here

COLLABORATIVE: These are filtration projects that are led by the OHorizons team. Each year we identify opportunities with local partners and then we train, fund and provide technical support needed to bring the project to life.
