2018 ANNUAL REPORT
50,000 PEOPLE HAVE CLEAN WATER FOR LIFE
MAKE DIRTY WATER CLEAN
The award-winning, patented Wood Mold™ came to life several years ago from a 8 ft by 4 ft sheet of plywood. It enables faster, lighter, and cheaper construction of BioSand filters (the gold standard way to make dirty water clean), with no special tools, no electricity, and with unskilled labor.
In 2018 the team at OHorizons crossed a new benchmark. We have now provided clean water to over 50,000 people across North and South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. It only takes $10 to give anyone, anywhere clean water for life.
1,000 WOOD MOLD BIOSAND FILTERS WERE DELIVERED
WOOD MOLD BIOSAND FILTER
Our partnership with a local NGO in Bangladesh has enabled the creation of the largest Wood Mold BSF Factory in the world. During the month of December, they distributed 1,000 Wood Mold BioSand filters to families in need across the Sundarban region, providing clean water for thousands of people in an extremely remote and underserved area.
To break the cycle of hunger, we are looking to create new partnerships, leverage available resources, and help even more people lacking access to clean water. Our goal is to give 1 million people clean water for life by 2023.
27,000 PEOPLE RECEIVED SOLAR POWERED ASSISTANCE
SHINE BRIGHT PUERTO RICO
Throughout 2018 we worked with last mile communities in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico, implementing stop-gap tools while long-term solutions to energy needs were deployed. Our solar-powered tools provided a reliable alternative, supplying lighting, refrigeration, home cooling, cellular recharging, and more.
We focused on neighborhoods that are difficult to access and are least likely to receive help, like Yabucoa, as well as Rio Grande, Utuado, Jayuya, Loiza, and Humacao.
